Generations of Grads: Hannah Schmucker

At Raphael’s School of Beauty Culture, we’re celebrating 50 years of teaching the next generation of beauty professionals! We’re so proud of our team and the work they’ve done to make this an amazing 50 years. This incredible achievement couldn’t have been possible without all the dedicated students who have completed our programs. That’s why to celebrate this milestone, we wanted to catch up with some of our past students to find out what they’re doing now and how their time with us made an impact on their future. For this Generations of Grads story, we interviewed Hannah Schmucker. Read more to learn about her journey in beauty!

About Hannah

Hannah first started her education with us in September of 2013 when she enrolled in our cosmetology program. She graduated, but it wasn’t long until she realized that she wasn’t ready for her education to end. Hannah wanted to broaden her knowledge of the beauty industry and learn how to do haircuts specifically for men. After a year of debating whether she should come back, Hannah decided to apply for our barbering program in 2017.

There is so much to learn about in the beauty world. Students can have the opportunity to explore which parts fit their unique personality! We think that Hannah is a perfect example of this. Her desire to learn more about the industry is one way she shows what it means to be a Raphael’s School of Beauty graduate.

Experience in School

Since Hannah was enrolled in two different programs, she was able to learn a variety of skills that could help her later in her career. Exploring multiple techniques in these programs allowed her to find out the different aspects of beauty that she loves most! In cosmetology, she loves making a dramatic difference with a client’s hair. Whether that’s from cutting inches off someone’s hair or giving them a whole new color, she loves helping clients try out a new style. On the other side of her beauty education, Hannah has enjoyed learning more about barbering and how to do techniques like fading. She says that though all her beauty training, students and instructors were always there to help her and were open to answering any questions.

Not only was Hannah discovering techniques in both cosmetology and barbering, but she also learned how much the beauty industry could change in just a few years. She says that beauty trends are always changing. We couldn’t agree more with her and it’s why we’re dedicated to teaching our students the latest beauty techniques so they can graduate feeling prepared for a future career. Going back to school during a different year can be a great advantage for someone in this industry and we’re so glad that Hannah was able to experience it!

What’s Hannah Doing Now

Today, Hannah has been working in a full-service salon for almost a year and a half! After completing both our cosmetology and barbering programs, Hannah is able to offer clients a variety of services. She says that her versatility in beauty has helped her get her name out in the beauty world and gain more clients.

If she could give advice to anyone who’s thinking about beauty school, she would tell them to just go after their dream. When she enrolled in our programs, she didn’t understand or execute everything perfectly, but she took her time and kept practicing. We’re proud that Hannah is a graduate of our school and we can’t wait to see what else she accomplishes!
